Conflict ranges across a broad spectrum. The conflict being experienced can be one of five class; these are: intrapersonal, interpersonal, intra-group, inter-group and value conflict. There are also just as many types of conflict: style, role, value, world-view, symbolic, structural, habituated, symbiotic, power, displaced external, displaced internal, territorial, individual dysfunction, group dysfunction stress-related and change.
Conflict however should not be seen as inevitably or innately destructive. It is usually painful to some degree, but the pain can be the pain of growth and exploration. Effective resolution of conflicts, experienced through mediation can lead to creative solutions, characterized by innovation, collaborative problem solving, and enhanced relationships.
The reasons why mediation and conflict resolution is being employed independently by so many organisations is due to previous breakdowns in achieving resoluton through in-house collaboration or the parties are unable to resolve their differences alone. Another reason that exists is that most managers don’t have the necessary skills to understand how the mediation and conflict resolution process works to attain positive results for all parties.
Given organizations and businesses are becoming more work-place related they can not afford to have a breakdown in relations between there staff. The organization or business also cannot have the existence of distrust or hostility that would bring about occupational or social disaffection between their staff. Most often resolution of conflict by way of mediation within the workplace is incorporated into the mainstream of management, without any special policy or procedure set in place to handle conflict situations. This can create a state of occupational chaos on how best to handle the conflict situation.
GHCMC offers an independent contractual mediating service engaging in helping conflicting parties find resolution to the difficulties or impasses being experienced. Because we are an independent contractual mediation service we take a positive approach to resolving conflict by examining, assessing, and analyzing all investigative evidence surrounding the dispute. We identify the key issues that are relevant both to the conflict and to its resolution, identify the conflict itself for each of those parties, and identify the options which avail themselves to a resolution process. Whilst maintaining an impartial, collaborative approach with those parties that is goal orientated.
GHCMC do not engage in any form of mediation process where legal proceedings are in the course of impending action. This is best left with the parties involved legal teams who are experts of law.
