General & Health Counselling, Mediation & Consultancy (GHCMC) treats clients according to Australian Counselling Association Code of Conduct and Code of Practice. This policy is an important aspect of GHCMC as an Allied Health Service Provider, to both the public & community as a whole.
At GHCMC we believe the trust between client and therapist is a very crucial element to the success of the therapeutic process. Therefore the highest level of confidentiality is maintained when information is disclosed during your consultation.
As GHCMC deals with the human condition, we pay particular attention to protecting the identity and anonymity of our clients by honouring their individuality and ensuring that all clinical records are kept safe and secure. All confidential material obtained will not be used for any purpose other than your care.
Should your GHCMC Counsellor have cause to be seriously concerned for your safety, or the safety of anyone else in relation to you, then they have the ethical, professional and legal obligation to consider informing the relevant authority about such occurrences. In certain cases the courts may require counsellors and/or their notes to be made available to determine matters of law.
