Code of Ethics & Confidentiality
General & Health Counselling, Mediation & Consultancy (GHCMC) treats clients according to Australian Counselling Association Code of Conduct and Code of Practice. This treatment is an important aspect of GHCMC as an Allied Health Provider, to both the public & community as a whole. GHCMC also adheres to The Australian Psychological Society Code of Conduct & Practice in the treatment of its clients.
At GHCMC we believe the trust between client and therapist is crucial to the success of the therapeutic process and therefore maintains the highest level of confidentiality. As GHCMC deal with the human condition, we pay particular attention to protecting the identity and autonomy of clients by honoring their individuality and ensuring that all clinical records are kept safe and secure. All confidential material obtained will not be used for any purpose other than your care.
Should your GHCMC Counsellor have cause to be seriously concerned for your safety, or that anyone else, then they have the ethical, professional and legal obligation to consider informing the relevant authority about such occurrences. In certain cases the courts may require counsellors and/or their notes.
